Ian Michael Williams, 23, of South Abington Twp., died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh, where he was attending the University of Pittsburgh.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Dr. Kevin and Catherine Berardi Williams. He was a 2012 graduate of Abington Heights High School and was completing a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Ian was an extraordinary person. He excelled at soccer and played as a child for the Abington Youth Soccer team, lettered all four years on the varsity soccer team at Abington Heights High School and played for the Club Soccer team at Pitt. Ian was an avid skier, who also enjoyed summers boating with his family and attending music festivals with friends. He will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are a sister, Abby Lynn Williams and her fiancé, Justin Erfer, Hoboken, N.J.; his Russian brother, Andrei Svistunov, Moscow, Russia; his girlfriend, Collette Naddeo, Pittsburgh; his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Nancy Berardi, Warren, Pa.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. Eugene and Ruth Williams.

A celebration of Ian's life will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
