Horace W. "Hobby" Davies, 73, of Ransom Twp., died Tuesday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton.  His wife is the former Joyce T. Morgan, the couple had been married for 33 years

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Horace and Eliza Coon Davies.  He was a graduate of Newton Ransom High School and was a member of Countryside Community Church.  For many years he worked in construction for Carl Ayers Building Contractor, and prior to his retirement, was the Road Foreman for Ransom Township.

Hobby was loved by his family and many friends.  He always had a smile to greet everyone and was a willing helper to anyone who needed it.  Hob was a man of few words whose witty comments would always make people chuckle.  His "Hobism's" were famous to those who knew him best.  He loved the outdoors and the opportunity to teach his son Daniel to hunt.  Hobby grew up on the family dairy farm; he loved working the land and most recently raising belted Galaway cows.  Most of all he enjoyed time with his family and being "Grand Hob" to his beautiful granddaughter Madison.

Also surviving are a daughter Cassie Michaylo and her husband Matt, Ransom Twp.; a son Daniel and his wife Brianna, Clarks Summit;  a sister, Muriel Gallo and her husband John, Fleetville; one granddaughter, Madison Michaylo; many nieces and nephews and a multitude of extended families.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Leora Lacoe and her husband Clayton Sr. (Bucky) and Inez Spencer and her husband, Kenneth; and his mother and father in law, Lorraine and George Morgan.

His family would like to thank the staff in the ER and the second floor of Moses Taylor Hospital and the amazing team in the ICU for their attention, care and compassion.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at  10 am from the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit, PA  18411.  Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.
