Hilda Brown, 96, of Clarks Summit died Monday March 26 at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. Her husband was the late Edward Brown who died in 1989. They had been married 29 years at the time of his death.
Born September 12, 1921 in New York, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Bertha Schilling Niklas.
She was a graduate of the Manhattan Industrial High School, New York and later worked as a food server for Horn & Hardart Co. in New York. Hilda attended Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Clarks Summit.
Hilda's passion was the outdoors, where she was often seen gardening and taking care of her plants. She also enjoyed boating and living next to the water in Howard Beach, Long Island, New York.
Surviving are a goddaughter, Evelyn Wolfer and husband Harold, a brother Dr. Karl J. Niklas, New York and niece, Lorraine Brown, California.
Hilda also enjoyed her extended family, Judith Layton, Linda Wirth, Philip (Chip) and Gloria Forelli and their sons Jake, Cris and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by an extended family member, Edward Wirth.
A private graveside service will be held in Clarks Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Svcs., 418 S. State St.,Clarks Summit,PA.
