Herbert Dana Lown, 83, of Clarks Summit, died Friday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Phyllis Hopf Lown. The couple has been married for 61 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Dana Herbert and Edith Jones Lown. He was a 1949 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a printer for Art Print. He was a member of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church.

Herb was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed working in his yard and was very handy at fixing anything.

Also surviving are two sons Dana Lown and his wife Diane, N. Abington Twp; and Richard Lown and wife Andrea, Elizabethtown; a daughter Sharon Walsh and her husband Scott, Clarks Summit, five grandchildren Nicki Judge, Katie and Sarah Walsh, and Ethan and Emma Lown, a sister Hanna James, Midland Park NJ; a brother-in-law Carl Hopf, Dyer IN; ; a sister-in-law Joan Lown, S. Abington Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Lown, a sister Joan Sparrow; two sisters-in-law Lois Roberts and Mary Hopf and a brother-in- law, and John Roberts.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411, with services by Rev. Brent Stouffer, Pastor of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church. Interment will follow with Naval Honors in Abington Hills Cemetery, S. Abington Twp.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 7pm
