Henry Belin IV, 83, of Waverly, died Friday at home. His wife is the former Joan Kinney. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary earlier in September.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Henry Belin III and Katherine Hoffman Belin, he attended the Waverly School, the Fessenden School, the Hotchkiss School and Yale University. Prior to attending Yale, he served in the Army in the 4th Armored Division of the Third Army in the European theater. He even found time to play on the Army hockey team in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He was employed by the Scranton Lace Co. before joining the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in 1960, where he was a special agent CLU for more than 40 years until his retirement. He served on the board of the Community Medical Center for 30 years and on the board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast PA, receiving the clubs' Champion of Youth award in 2007. He volunteered in many other areas as well.

He was also a supervisor in Abington Twp. for 24 years. Hank was a member of the Country Club of Scranton, the Waverly Country Club and the Clemo Club.

Also surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Wylie Shreffler and Lee, Betsy Fraaza and Dave, and Heidi Matthews and Greg; four grandchildren, Keith Fraaza, Jenny Fraaza, Jamie Matthews and Lori Matthews; two stepgrandchildren, Colin Shreffler and Stacie and Katrina Shreff ler; six step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Belin Fish.

He was also preceded in death by two beloved daughters, Joan "Jody" Welles Belin, in 1977, and Leslie Belin McCall, in 1989; and a brother, Paul Beck Belin, in 2009.

The family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate Hank's life Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Waverly Country Club.

A private memorial service will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
