HENRY J. W. HARRIS

September 25, 2017

Joe Harris, 84, of N. Abington Twp. passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Durban, South Africa to the late Olive "Molly" & Willoughby "Willow" Harris. He attended Highbury and Michaelhouse schools where he excelled at his favorite sports of rugby and cricket. A farmer to the core, Joe had a beautiful dairy farm in the Ixopo area of Kwazulu Natal for many years. He later moved to the Rosetta area where he built a unique thatched home called Little Milton.

Joe had a great passion for wildlife  and spent many a month on camping safaris in Southern Africa. Joe was a people person, everyone was his friend. His Zulu friends called him "Uthembega" (the reliable one). He later immigrated to the USA to be with his children.

He is survived by his sister June Reynolds, his son Roger, wife Sharon & their sons Bailey and Rory Harris and daughter Sally, partner Mark and her sons Chris, Dan & Tim Cottle and daughter Jacqueline "Jane", husband Sterling and their daughters Haley & Arden Short, and former wives Deirdre Levin-Bee and Penny Harris.

A Memorial Service was held on October 3 in Howick, South Africa at St Luke's.

He will be laid to rest at St James, Highflats South Africa.

A celebration of his life will be held later this year at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA.
