Hector Ceccarani, 98, of Dunmore, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Angelo and Ernesta Boezi Ceccarani, he was employed as a coal miner for more than 20 years and, before retirement, he worked for the IBEW Electrical Union.He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He spent many summers fishing at Krauch Lake in Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Angelo Ceccarani and his wife, Debbie, Dunmore; grandchildren, Angelo Jr., Coatesville; Gregory Homish and his wife, Doni Lynn, East Amherst, N.Y.; Matthew Ceccarani, Florida; Krystal Blepp and her husband, Robert, Dunmore; and Courtney Ceccarani, Scranton; great-grandchildren, Casey and Angelo Ceccarani III, Nicholas and Giovanna Ceccarani, Madison Blepp, Claira Kilker and Elizabeth Homish.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Homish.
The family would like to thank all of the staffers at the GCMC ICU and Hospice departments for their wonderful care and a special thank you to all of the wonderful staffers at St. Mary's Villa for their outstanding care and support.
There will be a private burial ceremony for the family at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
