Harry L. Ware Sr, 88, Clark's Summit, died Sunday after a brief illness. His beloved wife of 45 years is Mary Ann Jones Ware.
Born in Scranton in 1924, son of the late Arthur & Phoebe Walker Ware, he was a proud Marine, retiring after 27 years as Sergeant Major. He was a prisoner of war in Japan during World War II & served in Korea & Vietnam. A proud graduate of Penn State, he worked as an insurance agent for Pegula Insurance Co. He was a member of Trinity Congregation & a member of the YMCA Bone Yard Gang.
He was a loving man whose greatest joy was spending time with his family & his dog, Dora. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are a son, Harry Jr. & wife, Nancy, Glenburn; two daughters, Joan Ware Hess & husband, James, Factoryville & Kristine Rhodes & husband Robert, Ransom; a step-son, Thomas & wife Doreen Scott Lutkowski, Taylor; a brother, Joseph T. Ware & wife Sally, Clark's Summit; a sister, Dorothy Catracchia & husband, Albert, FL; 12 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Edward Lutkowski; brothers Arthur, John, Edward, Richard & Irwin Ware & a sister, Joan Ware.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 am at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment with full military honors will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
