Harold Lee Adams, 84, of Newton Township died Tuesday at Allied Hospice after a long battle with Parkinson disease. His wife of 61 years is the former Mary Barbara Clarke.
Born February 19, 1937 in Newton Township, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy Bennett Adams. He was a lifelong resident of the Abingtons, a 1956 graduate of Newton-Ransom High School, and served in the United States Army with a tour of duty in Germany. He was a master carpenter, a member of Carpenters Union 261, and was retired from E.F. McFarland Builders of Clarks Summit.
Harold loved to travel and did so – on snowmobile trips, cruises, visits to Florida, and train trips across the country. He also enjoyed caring for his horses. He loved life and lived it well. A role model to many, Harold was a kind and talented man who helped many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are a son, Daniel Adams and his wife Luda, Massachusetts; daughter Patricia Walsh and husband James, Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Ashley Adams of Virginia, Ryan Adams of Massachusetts, Erica Walsh of NYC, and Kyle Walsh of Harrisburg; two great grandchildren, Hadley and James; three sisters, D. Marilyn Walton, Geneva, FL, Linda Komora, Clarks Summit, and Janice Adams, Scranton; sister-in-law Nancy Adams; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene R. Adams, and sister Alberta Adams, both of Newton.
The family would like to thank all the close family, friends, and nursing staff who showed compassionate care to Harold and who were always there for him in his time of need.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. All unvaccinated people who attend are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing. Interment will be at Cosner Cemetery, Newton, at the convenience of the family.
