Gordon Thomas Sr., Scott Twp., died Thursday evening at Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville. His widow is the former Anna Prusiensky. The couple married in 1958.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Edgar N. and Winola Smith Thomas, he worked before retirement as a commercial truck driver, side by side with his brother. After retiring, he was a security guard with Vector Security.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. He was like a father to his nieces and nephews, with a heart of gold.
Also surviving are a son, Gordon Thomas Jr., Montrose; two brothers, Darwin J. Thomas and wife, Ann, Newton Twp.; and Dale E. Thomas and companion, Robert Santoni, Scranton; a stepbrother, Carl Reese, Hershey; two stepsisters, Dawn Franklin, Massachusetts; and Karen Meyer, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Thomas, Berwick; two nieces, Susan Thomas, Throop; and Jennifer Thomas, Olyphant; a nephew, John Thomas and wife, Ellen, Wilmington, Del.; a great-nephew, John Thomas Jr., Factoryville; and great-niece, Paige Barendse, Macatawa, Mich.
The funeral will be Monday at 8 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, private at the convenience of the family in the Worth Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday, 5 until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anna Thomas, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411, the memorial of her choice.
