Gladys Huggler Rankin, of Newton Twp., returned to the House of the Father Wednesday morning. She was married to Walter C. Huggler for 20 years, who died in 1961; and then to William Rankin for 40 years who died in 2004.
Born July 20, 1921, in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Winford Dixon Singer. She had been a resident of Clarks Summit for all of her life. She was a member of the Countryside Community Church.
Surviving are a son, Allen L. Huggler of Newton Twp.; three grandsons, Mark A. Huggler of Newton; David D. Huggler of Phoenixville, Pa.; and Allen M. Huggler of Newton; a step-granddaughter, Rachel Percival of Lake Carey; three great-grandsons, David, George and Charles Huggler of Phoenixville; three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Catherine and Madeline Huggler of Dalton; and a loyal and devoted friend for 80 years, Virgina Thompson of Newton.
Gladys was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas Charles Huggler, in 2005.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411, with services by the Rev. Dr. J.P. Duncan, pastor of the Countryside Community Church. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery.
