Gladys M. Klein

Gladys M. Klein of Clarks Summit, formerly of Scranton passed away Tuesday afternoon at Abington Manor.  She was the widow of Ira Comstock who was KIA in WWII.  She later married Robert Klein, a Korean War veteran and they were married for 43 years before he died in 1994.

Born in Scranton to William and Goldia Platt Kambeck she spent her early childhood in Lancaster.  The family returned to Clarks Green where she graduated from the joint Clarks Green/Clarks Summit High School.

She was employed at ICS, the Petersburg Variety Store in Scranton, and retired from the New Jersey National Bank.  She and Robert traveled extensively in Europe enjoying trips to Germany, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, France, Italy and England.

She was a member of the former Scranton Providence Christian Missionary Alliance Church for 45 Years where she served as treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, youth ministry teacher and was a member of the Church Council.  During that time she served as president of the Eastern district for Woman's Fellowship.  She was most recently a member of the Country Alliance Church in Newton Ransom.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother Ralph Kambeck, a brother Royce Kambeck, a sister Dorothy Holgate.  Surviving is a son, James Klein with his wife Laurie Collins Klein, two granddaughters, Katie of Clifton Park NY and Kristen and fiancé Joshua Stewart of Clarks Summit, two great grand children, Mackenzie Klein-Bayout, Nathan Stewart, and a very special niece, Sharon Holgate Andrukitis of Elmhurst.

The funeral will be on May 3 ^rd at 10:30 with a viewing held from 4 to 7 on May 2 ^nd both at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks  Summit.  Interment to follow in Clarks  Green Cemetery.  Friends may call on May 3 ^rd .
