Gerard R. "Jerry" Graney of Glenburn died peacefully at home Tuesday night. His wife was Karen B. Graney, who died Feb. 22, 2008.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Joseph and Claire O'Brien Graney, he was a manager for Sandvik Steel, Waverly, before his retirement in 1986. He was extremely proud of his military service, as he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a devout Catholic as a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church.
Jerry always thought and cared for our troops overseas. He sent more than 3,000 pounds of packages to the 110th Infantry Battalion stationed in Iraq in 2006, that brought joy to more than 900 Pennsylvania troops.
Jerry was a gentle man. He loved his family, and his beloved Karen was always on his mind and in his heart. He died peacefully surrounded by his daughters.
Surviving are four daughters, all of whom are in the nursing field, Anne Jenkins, Nicholson; Barbara Jenkins, Glenburn; Colleen Zobel, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Rachel Noone, Dalton; a stepson, John Schuler, Florida; two sisters, Mary Freund and Betty Breslin, both of Long Island, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Danielle Jenkins, Mark, Michael and Madeline Jenkins, Kathleen and Sean Noone and Gwenyth and Josephine Zobel; as well as his dog and best buddy, Molly McButter.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Tom; and a sister, Claire Curtin.
The family would like to especially thank all of the nurses and caregivers at Home Health Care Professionals & Hospice.
