Geraldine Hempelman, 92, of Brooks Estates at Wesley Village, Pittston, died March 5 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1915, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Rev. Oscar and Johanna Hirtz Hempelman, she was a public health nurse supervisor for the Health Department of Hopewell Township, N.J. Before that, she was director of the Visiting Nurse Association in Trenton, N.J. She was a graduate of the Evangelical School of Nursing, Chicago, and received a master's degree in public health from the University of Michigan.
Surviving are friends, Jacqueline Anderson Kepler, Brooks Estates; and Nannette Anderson Burti, Dalton; and their families.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Dr. Susan Ezell, pastor of Langcliffe Presbyterian Church.
