Geraldine Hempelman, 92, of Brooks Estates at Wesley Village, Pittston, died March 5 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1915, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Rev. Oscar and Johanna Hirtz Hempelman, she was a public health nurse supervisor for the Health Department of Hopewell Township, N.J. Before that, she was director of the Visiting Nurse Association in Trenton, N.J. She was a graduate of the Evangelical School of Nursing, Chicago, and received a master's degree in public health from the University of Michigan.
Surviving are friends, Jacqueline Anderson Kepler, Brooks Estates; and Nannette Anderson Burti, Dalton; and their families.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Dr. Susan Ezell, pastor of Langcliffe Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Langcliffe Presbyterian Church, 1001 Main St., Avoca, 18641; First Presbyterian Church, 48 River Drive, Titusville, NJ 08560; or Mobile Meals of Trenton/Ewing, 546 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618.
