Gerald J. McLane, 84, a resident of the Gino J. Merli Veteran Center, Scranton, died Tuesday June 9, 2015.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Gerald and Marguerite Roche McLane. He was educated in Scranton schools. A Korean War veteran, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and attained a rank of sergeant. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service, United Nations Korean Service, National Defense Service and Navy Occupation ribbons. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Chamberlain Corporation in Scranton.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including William McLane, Rochester, NY; Michael McLane, North Abington Twp.; Rosann Moskel, Olyphant; Lynne Conway, South Plainfield, NJ; and Judy McLane, New York City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Joseph; and a sister, Gertrude (Dolly) McDonough.
Per his wishes, the funeral will be private. Interment at the convenience of the family will take place in Cathedral Cemetery.
