George "Uncle" Reshetar Jr. of Ransom Twp. died Thursday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton. His wife of 16 years is the former Iva Burdette.
Born May 2, 1929, in Ransom, he was the son of the late George and Anna Kolesar Reshetar. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran and a member of American Legion Post 0568, Minooka section of Scranton, and the Ukranian Club of Scranton. Before retirement, he was employed by Pope & Talbot Paper Mill (now Cascades) in Ransom for 42 years.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who was always the one that family and friends came to first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are a daughter, Brenda Lowry and husband, Rusty, Dundaff; a son, George, Forest City; beloved, Patsy and husband, Charley, Florida; a niece, Paula Beck and husband, Rick, California; a nephew, Michael and wife, Margie, Factoryville; two beloved grandsons, Michael Zielinski, Clarks Summit; and Matthew and wife, Lisa Zielinski, Pleasant Mount; and two great nephews, Chuck and William, Florida.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Matthews and Mary Mundy; a nephew, William Matthews; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
A blessing service will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by Monsignor James McGarry, pastor, Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
