George J. Oelkers of Clarks Summit, formerly of Maplewood, N.J., died Monday afternoon at the Gino Merli Veterans Center. Hie wife is the former Romaine Wescott. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Aug. 30.
Born in Newark, N.J., son of the late Harry and Helen Pfaff Oelkers, he was a resident of Willow Brook Assisted Living, Clarks Summit, for the past three years. Before retirement, he worked for Krementz and Co. in Newark, N.J., as a jewelry manufacturer. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Trinovitch and husband, Bernard, LaPlume; and Nancy Oelkers, Whippany, N.J.
A graveside service will be held privately in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J.
