George Misiura, 84, of South Abington Twp., died Wednesday at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst. He was the husband of Jean (Wengren) Misiura. The couple had been married for 58 years.
Born in Olyphant on July 19, 1934, he was the son of the late John Stanley and Anastasia Madeline Sabot Misiura. He was a graduate of Johnson Technical School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from the University of Scranton. George honorably served in the United States Army, having been stationed in Germany. He began his career with Acker Drill Co. working his way up to vice president of manufacturing over his 38-year career with them. Upon leaving Acker Drill, George joined Enterprise Machine and Tool and became co-owner of the company.
George was an avid golfer and a member of Elmhurst Country Club for 38 years, where he served as a board member. He was known for being able to fix or build just about anything. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit, and a former member of the Rotary Club of the Abingtons.
Also surviving are a son, Martin Misiura, D.D.S. and attorney Johanna Gelb, Clarks Green; daughters, Christine Kozel and husband, John, Elmhurst; Linda McCawley and husband, Jason, Cochranville; brothers, John Misiura (Elaine), Batavia, Ill.; and Paul Misiura, D.D.S. (Carole), Waverly; seven grandchildren, attorney Martin Robert Misiura, Anne Kathryn Misiura, M.D., William Misiura, Cara Kozel, R.N., BSN, CMSRN, Nicholas Kozel, Maxwell McCawley and Curtis McCawley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his doctors, the staff of the Pines Senior Living Center and the staff of St. Mary's Villa Skilled Nursing and Residence for their exceptional care and compassion during his illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa., to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc. , 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA  18711
