George Bunnell, Clarks Summit died Saturday morning at the Allied Health Center.

Born in Clarks Summit he was the son of Loyal Williard and Marjorie E. Nichols Bunnell.  He was a graduate of the former Clarks Summit Clarks Green High School and then furthered his education at Keystone College.  George served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army stationed in Italy; while in the service he received a purple heart and the cluster medal.

George then followed in the family business, Bunnell Hardware in Clarks Summit working alongside his dad, brother, Billy and then his son, Chip.  He served on Clarks Summit council for 28 years, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit.   He also enjoyed golfing at the Canoe Club of Scranton and Emanon Golf course.  He was also a member of the Waverly F&AM #301 and the Abington Memorial Post 7069, Clarks Summit

Surviving are three sons, David and his wife Chris, Spokane WA, Jonathon and his wife Cindy, Clarks Summit, and Mark, Falls; a brother John, Johnstown, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Ellen Jane Holman, his son George "Chip" Bunnell; three brothers, Loyal "Billy", James and Judson Bunnell.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7pm.   Interment with full military honors will follow at Clarks Green Cemetery.
