Frank A. Lovend, 83, of Scott Twp., died Friday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was the widower of the former Janice M. Reese. The couple had been married 42 years.
Born in Tunkhannock, son of the late Frank Lovend Sr., and Ethel and James Carpenter, he graduated from Tunkhannock High School and joined the Army. He served our nation in the United States Army with service in both Lebanon and Germany. He began his career at the Chevrolet Plant in Buffalo, N.Y. Before his retirement, Frank worked for RCA for most of his life. He was a member of Mount Bethel Church, Waverly Lodge 301 F&AM and the Dickson City American Legion.
Frank enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and fishing at Horseshoe Lake in Ontario, Canada. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, tinkering in his workshop, working in the yard and watching old movies and television shows.
Surviving are a son, Jay Lovend and wife, Brenda, Scott Twp.; a brother, Jim Carpenter and wife, Nora, Jessup; a grandson, Tyler Lovend; a dear friend, Joan Ciuccoli; and his dog, Sprite.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter or the memorial fund at the Mount Bethel Baptist Church.
