Fern Alice Veety, Newton Twp., died Saturday evening at the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Veety, Clarks Summit.
She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Falls. Known for her friendly demeanor and selfless generosity, Fern was well loved by her friends, family, and community. She was an active member of her church and quick to share a smile, compliment, or home cooked meal with everyone she encountered. Fern's gentle nature and positive attitude will always be remembered.
Also surviving are a son, Charles and wife, Lois, Falls; a daughter, Dianne Wheaton and husband, Robert, Clarks Summit; two sisters, Evelyn Davis, Clarks Summit; and Arlene Soderblom, Otisville, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Edward Veety and wife, Katie, Factoryville; Barbra Veety, Trexlertown; and Marie Domenech and husband, Edgard, Mansfield; and two great grandchildren, Dylan and Sophia Domenech.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Jacoby, and two brothers, Walter and Elmer Huggler, all of Newton.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Bethel United Methodist Church, Falls Road, by the Rev. Eric Luczak, pastor. Interment will be at Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
Friends may call Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
