Evelyn Ellen Smith, Waverly went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday morning at the Clarks Summit Senior Living where she was residing. She was the widow of Henry J. Smith who was called home with the Lord in 2003.
Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Robert and Esther Egroff Marshall.
Surviving are two daughters Kimberly Ryan, Oxford, CT and Candace Haft, Factoryville, PA; three grandchildren Michaela, Cameron and Amanda and a sister, Thelma Lyons, Toms River, NJ.
Evelyn was a charter member along with her husband at Faith Community Church in Glenburn, Pennsylvania, where she also served as organist for over 25 years. She played for many weddings, vocal and instrumental soloists, and enjoyed accompanying the choir. She also served as organist at the Puritan Congregational Church, W. Market St. Scranton for over 10 years, and briefly at Country Alliance Church, Newton Ransom.
She had a deep abiding faith in Christ and his saving grace. She spoke often of her trust in the Lord and his provision for her every need.
Her memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2pm in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Gerald Major III. Interment will be at a later date in Shady Lane Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12pm until the time of the service.
