Evelyn Brower, Clarks Summit, died Wednesday morning at Allied Skilled Services. She was the widow of Carl Fitch, who died in 1963; and Harry "Pete" Brower who died in 1999. Born in Schultzville, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Hazel Bellershiem Thompson.

She has been a lifelong resident of Newton township and a member of the former Schultzville United Methodist Church, now The Countryside Community Church. She was one of the founding members of the Valley Equestrian 4H Club and until her illness she was active in the club for more than 30 years.

Surviving is a daughter, Nancy Tighe and husband Bill, Newton Twp.; a grandson., Billy and wife Erica, Burke, VA; two great grandsons, William James and Wesley Thompson Tighe; two brothers, Richard and wife, Loretta and Robert Thompson and wife, Veronica, Newton Twp.; one sister who was her best friend, Leona Pallman, Clarks Summit; also a special companion, caregiver and friend, Barbara Smith. Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert H. Fitch.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Terrace and Allied Skilled Nursing, and The Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and compassionate care.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. Dr. Jean-Pierre Duncan, Pastor, Countryside Community Church. Interment will be at the Newton Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Countryside Community Church Building Fund, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
