Eugenia Smith, 94, Clarks Summit, died Friday morning at the VNA Hospice at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. She was the widow of Robert Wesley Smith.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Kendall Carney. Prior to retirement she worked in retail for many companies, including R. H. Stearns in Boston and Maxwell's and the BonTon in Scranton.

She was a member of Clarks Summit United Methodist Church where she was formerly the Treasurer of their Fellowship Class. She was also a member of the Abington Women's Club. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening. Eugenia was very artistic and accomplished in all phases of needlework, including sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting.

Surviving are her daughter, Lurena Ferguson, Clarks Summit; two sons, Robert W. Smith Jr., North Carolina and Don Smith, Virginia; a sister, Lillian St. George, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Mark and Steven Ferguson, Kelly, Kristen, Travis and Adam Smith, Greg Cody and Brandon Drust; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother John Carney and her son in law Malcolm Ferguson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, PA.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
