Ethel Arlene Sheppard, 92, of Clarks Summit died Wednesday at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Thomas J. Sheppard, who died in 1983.

Born in Scranton , she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Dougherty Davis.

She was a member of United Baptist Church, Scranton, and a past deaconess of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and for years she worked in the catalog department of Sears Roebuck.

Ethel was a gracious lady who exemplified class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose kindness will be greatly missed. She loved spending time with her family and working in her flower garden.

Surviving are her three children, sons, Thomas and wife Peg, Robert and wife Mona and a daughter Charlotte and husband Thomas Ruby; seven grandchildren ; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Davis.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mountain view Car Center for their caring service.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Shady Lane Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
