Esther Sieglinde Duguay, lovingly called Linde, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 10, 1932 to Lucie Irmgard Schurhoff and Ernest Geigis. She married Robert Frederick Duguay and they were together 57 years before his death on January 23, 2014.
In 1950, Linde graduated from Girls' Latin School in Boston, the first college preparatory high school for girls in America. In 1954, Linde graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and became a hospital pharmacist at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital (now Brigham and Women's Hospital) in Boston, Massachusetts.
Linde and Bob were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1956. They moved to Connecticut where Linde joined the staff of Boswell Drug Store and became the first female pharmacist in Greenwich, Connecticut. Linde took time off from being a pharmacist to raise her two sons, Douglas and Robert, and returned to work as a hospital pharmacist at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut when they began school. After a family move to Pennsylvania, Linde became a pharmacist at Wynn Apothecary in Camp Hill where she served as an assistant manager and pharmacist for Rea and Derrick, which became Peoples Drugs and then CVS. She retired from CVS after 17 years.
Linde was a member of the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill for many years. Upon moving to Waverly Township, she became a member of the Country Club of Scranton.
Linde had a wide array of interests including sailing "About Time" on Lake Wallenpaupack, keeping current on world events, especially in medicine and science, antiquing, traveling and photography. She believed that "The camera never lies, but the camera can tell many kinds of truth".
Linde was a wonderful, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a loyal friend. She will remain forever in our hearts. She will be greatly missed by her son Douglas, his wife Patti and their son Douglas, Jr. of Waverly, Pennsylvania and her son Rob, his wife Laurie and their children Robert, Jr., Eric, Emma and Richard of Arnold, Maryland; her brother Reverend Ernest Geigis and his wife Diana of Falmouth, Massachusetts; and her nieces Deborah Berry, Priscilla Gaertner, Marianne Crabtree, Barbara Davis and Amy Nowak and their families.
In Linde's final days she was lovingly cared for by the wonderful nurses at Compassionate Care Hospice and by Chrissy Golden, aka "Barbara".
Linde will be buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linde's name to the "A-Team", Carbondale YMCA, 82 N. Main Street, Carbondale, PA 18407.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
