Erma L. Malo, 86, of Clarks Green, died Monday at Community Medical Center after a brief illness. She was married for more than 56 years to Bruno S. Malo, who preceded her in death in September 2000.
Born in 1922 in Chester, Mass., daughter of the late Louis and Ida Calderari, she was a 1939 honors graduate of Spalding High School, Barre, Vt. In 1945, after World War II, Erma and Bruno settled in Pennsylvania to raise their family, first in East Stroudsburg and, for the last 36 years, in Clarks Green. She was a member of the Church of St. Gregory.
She was a loving wife and mother, a wonderful cook and a skilled seamstress. Erma loved ballroom and square dancing. She and her husband were active members of the Saints 'n Aints Square Dance Club for more than 20 years. She was a generous contributor to various charities and a longtime volunteer for the March of Dimes.
Surviving are two daughters, Christine Malo, Clarks Green; and Marcella Fulmer and husband, Walter, Williston, Vt.; a grandson, Christopher Fulmer, Essex Junction, Vt.; a sister, Albina Perez, Barre; a nephew and nieces, as well as extended family in Switzerland.
After a private viewing for the family, the funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with Mass to be celebrated by Monsignor John H. Louis. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Pittston.
