Erma P. Jones of Clarks Summit died Tuesday in Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Born Nov. 16, 1926, in Springville, she was the daughter of the late Lavern and Blanche Baker Palmiter. She was a graduate of Dalton High School, where she lettered in basketball. Before her retirement, she was employed as a service desk clerk in the Globe Store, Scranton, where she was also a member of the Ten Year Club.

A devoted mother, grandmother and friend who personified dignity and kindness, Erma leaves a legacy of love to all who knew her.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Charles S. Deck and his staff, Regional Hospital, Regional Skilled Nursing Facility and Allied Home Health, but most especially to Vicky, her devoted and compassionate caregiver and friend. In recent time of failing health, Erma especially appreciated the support of her dear friends, Vi, Kate, Elaine and Iva.

Surviving are three children, James Jones and wife, Judith; Craig Jones with whom she resided; and Carolee MacDonald and husband, Dennis, all of Clarks Summit; and a grandson, Christopher MacDonald, who was the joy and light of her life.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kaveda M. Oakley, in July 1998.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Ted Faux. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home.
