Eric Matylewicz, 30, formerly from Factoryville, tragically passed away April 22, 2017, from a drug overdose.
Eric was born Feb. 17, 1987. He was more than a friend to many people and has been described as a ray of sunshine, with a great sense of humor and a kind word of hope for everyone. Eric had a large extended family from the many people he met throughout his life.
In an effort to keep his memory alive, and the disease in the forefront of our communities, his Aunt Sue, friends and classmates from Lackawanna Trail High School in Factoryville, Pa., are establishing a scholarship in his name. The money raised will go to the Lackawanna Trail School District and be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a career in the music field - something that gave Eric great joy in his short life.
Eric was preceded in death by both parents, Elizabeth Dorothy Stevens and Jeff Matylewicz; as well as maternal grandparents, uncles and many friends.
A private graveside service was held at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, Pa.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa.
