Emil Granquist, 89, Clarks Summit, died Sunday morning at the VNA Hospice unit at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. His wife is the former Margaret Ann Robinson. The couple had been married for 60 years.
Born in Marinette, WI, he was the son of the late Emil Olaf and Agusta Gravstrom Granquist. Emil was a proud Army veteran of WW II, and was awarded a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart Medal for his service.
Before relocating to Clarks Summit, he was a teacher in the public school system in Paramus, NJ. He was a member of the National Education Association and the New Jersey Education Association.
Also surviving is a son, Erik Emil Granquist, Horsham; a daughter Sarah Ann Granquist, Ramsey, NJ; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Olaf and Gunnar Erik Granquist; and three sisters, Dorothy Monigal, Helen Victoria LeBoeuf, and Ina Behrendt.
Interment with military honors will take place in Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
