Elvin Bensley Howland, 76, of Clarks Summit, died Friday morning at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. He was the husband of the former Angela Teresa Berte'. The couple has been married for 54 years.
Born in Evanston Illinois, he was the son of the late Elvin West and Alice Bensley Howland. He was a graduate of Newton High School, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University and the University of Scranton. Elvin proudly served his country as a Major in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he received the Bronze Star Medal. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a hospital administrator for Community Medical Center in Scranton for over 35 years. He was a member of the Church of the Epiphany, Dalton.
Also surviving is a daughter Cynthia Motter and her husband Scott, Nazareth; six grandchildren George, Miles, Alexander, Jonathan, and Elena Basila, and Joley Motter.
His sister Constance Young preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at the Church of the Epiphany, 1003 Church Hill Rd, Dalton Pa. 18414, with services by Reverend Graham Cliff, pastor.
The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. at Church of the Epiphany, prior to the memorial service.
