Elsie E. Jones, 85, of Chinchilla, died Saturday afternoon at Lackawanna County Health Care , Blakely.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Lynn Jones. She was a resident of the Chinchilla area since 1937. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chinchilla Hose Company. Before retirement, she was employed with Giant Market for more than 32 years. She had also worked for the Naval Center and as a stenographer for Penn Foster, formerly ICS. She was a graduate of Ovid High School in New York.
Her girlfriend, Alyssa Amori, would like to thank all of the employees at the Lackawanna County Health Center for making Elsie comfortable and taking wonderful care of her. She was given tender loving care and for that I am very grateful.
She is survived by several cousins. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William, in 1993.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Earl Trygar, pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
