Elmer G. "Bud" Poehlman, 77, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. He was the husband of Marjorie White Poehlman. The couple has been married for 57 years.

Born in Mill City, he was the son of the late Elmer and Elsie Andres Poehlman.

He was a United States Air Force veteran. Prior to his retirement he was a field engineer and program manager for ITT Corporation in Ft. Wayne IN. He was in charge of building and supporting electronic command and control systems for Strategic Air Command (SAC) and Strategic Command of the United States Air Force.

After his retirement in 1997, he moved to Clarks Summit. He was a member of the Waverly Lodge #301 F&AM and the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church.

Bud was known to many of his friends as George and he would frequently write editorials in the Scranton Times.

Also surviving is a son Mark, Cuyahoga Falls, OH; a daughter Ruth Jacobson and her husband Terry, Westfield, Pa.; four grandchildren Kylee and William Jacobson, and Jeffery and Timothy Poehlman; a sister Dorothy Galloway, Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2pm in the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Judith Adams, pastor.

Friends may call on Saturday from 12:30pm until the time of the service at the church.
