Ellen "Ellie" Wellard, 77, of Chinchilla passed away at home on Thursday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith E. Wellard, Sr., who died in 2019. The couple had been married 56 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert E., Sr. and Helen (Cusick) Brennan. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Scranton. Ellie was a fixture at Stanton's Greenhouse for more than 40 years. Miss Ellie had a love for her plants and she shared it with all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of the Chinchilla Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary, where her dedication was felt throughout the community. Whether it was a 4 a.m. call to bring coffee to the firemen or running "Gee's Taxi" to wherever her grandchildren needed to be, she was always there for whoever needed her. Ellie greatly enjoyed hosting holidays, spending quality time in her pool, and maintaining gorgeous flowers around her home. She never missed an opportunity to support her children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren, be it a sporting event or a school function.
Ellie is survived by sons Keith, Jr. and wife Cindy, Central City, South Dakota, and Kevin and wife DeAnn, Milwaukee; daughters Kori McLane and husband Marty, Scranton, and Keri Anders and husband Jerry, Chinchilla. She was affectionally known as "Gee" to her grandchildren; Matthew, Megan, and Michael McLane, K.C. and Adam Wellard, and Nora and Gavin Anders; great grandchildren Jason, Myrric, Coralei, Annie, Hannah, Karsyn, and Brennan. She is also survived by brothers John Brennan, Clarks Green, and Michael Brennan, Hawley; numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ellie loved and was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert E. Brennan, Jr.
