Ellen E. Corey

Ellen E. Corey of Clarks Summit died January 13, 2018  at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore after a brief illness. Her husband of 56 years was the late Fred Corey who passed in 2012.

Born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Gladys Ponkey. Ellen was the ultimate homemaker and cook. She loved entertaining and travel. Ellen enjoyed visits with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. She took great pride in all their accomplishments. Known for her spunk and stubbornness, she loved her PEO sister luncheons and lively rounds of bridge with friends. Ellen will be greatly missed.

Surviving are four daughters, Sue Calder and husband Tom, Lynn Surmann and husband Pete, Kim McNeill and husband Jay, Carol Corey and partner Dave Keck; two brothers Bernie and Jimmy; five grandchildren Alexandra and Jake Calder, Kelly Surmann, Sam and Zoe McNeill, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers Hank and Ed.

Per her wishes, a family memorial service will be held in Michigan this summer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.
