Ellen Jane Bunnell Holman, 57, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday in her Avon, N.Y., home after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She and her husband, Donald Holman, had been married since 1987.
Born in Scranton, daughter of George and Betty Kresge Bunnell, Ellen graduated from Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit. She attended Wesleyan University, and earned her degree in special education from William Patterson University. Ellen radiated warmth and kindness through her lifelong dedication to helping others through volunteer work, teaching and as a Cub Scout den mother by always personifying kindness and integrity. She died surrounded by her family and will be missed by many.
Also surviving are two children, Kim and Jennifer; a stepson, David Holman; two grandsons, Zachary and Jacob; and four brothers, Chip, David, Jonathon and Mark Bunnell.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Clarks Green Cemetery.
