Listen to Obituary

One last poem for mom:

Liz Kulkarni, a phenomenal daughter, mother and wife,

Lost her battle to cancer on Wednesday after 52 years of life.

She is survived by her daughter, Alex, and husband, Phil,

Whom she deeply inspired with her strength and free will.

Her nephew, Akash, and brother-in-law, Gavan, remember her dearly,

And the memories they made from visiting yearly.

Liz was born in India, then moved to Canada after less than a year,

Before she settled in Clarks Summit and started her life here.

She lived with her parents, Sakina and Mohan in their house in PA,

Along with her late sister, Catherine, her best friend everyday.

After graduating from Abington Heights and getting her degree from McGill,

She moved to the Windy City to work, and met her husband Phil.

They had a daughter named Alexandra, who Liz called her sweet bean,

Two peas in a pod, who shared more than just genes.

Liz worked as a director of business development for several firms,

Using her confidence and eloquence to get things done on her own terms.

She loved travelling and watching black and white films on TV,

And could cook everything from carrot cake to chicken curry.

So mom thank you for eighteen years with the most amazing woman I know,

I'll love you forever, wherever I go.

-Your sweet bean
