Elinor Lowrie Sampson, 93, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida passed away on January 23.
Elinor Sampson was born in Scranton, PA to Cecil and Drucella Lowrie on April 27, 1923. She graduated from Waverly High School and continued on to receive her Bachelors in Arts from Syracuse University with a major in music and a minor education. She married James Nicholas Sampson on June 14, 1947 in Waverly, Pennsylvania. During their marriage they lived in Ohio before settling in Florida.
While raising her family, Elinor provided music lessons. She was active in her church. In addition, she supported the local arts by being a part of the founding of The Players by the Sea in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Charles Sampson and Judy Rowan of Florida. She is also survived by her siblings: Richard Lowrie, Dade City, Florida, Joan Craig, Kissimmee, Florida, and David Lowrie, Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, and other family and friends.
Elinor Sampson is preceded in death by her husband James Sampson; two sons , Jeff Sampson and James Sampson, Jr ; and a brother Wayne Lowrie
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 28 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Waverly, PA.
Local arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA.
