Eleanor Mary Cruz

Eleanor Mary Cruz, 76, of South Abington Township passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ernest Cruz.

Born on March 12, 1950, in the Bronx, NY, she is the daughter of the late Robert and Eleanor (Lynch) Shea.

Eleanor especially enjoyed spending time working on jigsaw puzzles, computer games and relaxing with a good book. Eleanor also shared a very special bond with her house cat, Dario, whose companionship meant so much to her.

She was an excellent cook and truly loved being in the kitchen. She took great pride in preparing meals for her family, and many of her happiest moments were spent cooking for the people she loved.

Of all the roles she held in life, being a grandmother and great-grandmother was among her greatest joys. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always proud of her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mark, Johanna, Eric and John; brother Martin Shea; niece Ashley Ryan; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend Eleanor’s Celebration of Life which will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.
