Edwin S. Miller, 101, died Wednesday in Community Medical Center. His wife of 65 years, the late Mary Petty Miller, died in 1995.

Born in Ransom, son of the late Adam B. and Edna Huthmaker Miller, he was a lifelong resident of the Newton-Ransom area and was educated in Newton-Ransom schools. He attended Penn State University. He worked for the Clarks Summit Post Office for 40 years and was a local farmer.

He was a lifelong member of the Countryside Community Church, formerly the Milwakee United Methodist Church.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose family was a large part of his life. He loved to read his Bible and lived his life to serve God. He always had a great story to tell and a hearty laugh that would fill the room. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet C. Flowers and husband, Edward, Ransom; a sister-in-law, Rhoda Miller, Ransom; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald; a brother, Norman; and a sister, Clara Huthmaker.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Dr. Rev. J.P. Duncan, pastor of the Countryside Community Church, Newton. Interment, private at the convenience of the family in Milwaukee Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday, 10 a.m. until time of service.
