Edwin George Herring, 90, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning in the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of the late Lorraine Friedman Herring who died in 1994.
Born in Queens New York, he was the son of the late Edwin and Margaret Engel Herring. He was a graduate of John Adams High School in Queens NY. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving in combat in World War II. Prior to his retirement he was a mail carrier for the United States Post office.
Ed loved animals and sports. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are two sons Roy and his wife Eileen, Clarks Summit; and William and his wife June, Long Island NY; two brothers, James and his wife Charlotte and William and his wife Maryanne, both of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VNA Hospice Unit in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Clarks Summit Senior living and the Abington Manor for all of their compassionate care.
The funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
