Edward M. "Ted" Trishman, 83, died Tuesday evening in the Mercy Hospice Unit. He and his wife, the former Jean Ross, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in West Hazleton, son of the late Edward A. Trishman and Dorothy Mohr, he was raised by his late aunt Marion and uncle Gurney Rice, Easton. He was a 1943 graduate of Wilson High School in Easton. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. After completion of his service, he worked for Baker Chemical in New Jersey and then moved to Clarks Summit, where he resided with his mother, Dorothy, and stepfather, Dr. John Dunfee. He completed pilot training at Schulzville Airport, earning his pilot's license. He later re-enlisted in the Navy and attended U.S. Naval Electronic School in Great Lakes, Ill. Upon his discharge, he returned to Clarks Summit and was owner/operator of Abington TV Center until his retirement.
He was an avid bowler, fisherman and golfer. He coached Little League and Teener League for several years. He was a proud member of VFW Post 7069 and a member of Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and his final message to all was "don't smoke."
Surviving are three sons, David, Clarks Summit; Mark, Coatsville; and Scott, Newberry Fla.; a daughter, Marsha T. Miller, Southampton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kim and Lisa Trishman, Trisha and Ryan Kubek, Dale and Taylor Trishman; a brother, John Dunfee; and two sisters, Lois Robinson and Marion Harrington.
He was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Marilyn Dunfee Langan.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church by the Rev. Judy Wanck, pastor. Friends may call 1 until time of service at the church.
