Edward M. Bush Sr., Clarks Summit died peacefully Friday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital after a long courageous battle with mesothelioma.  His widow, and high school sweetheart is the former Lorraine Genevieve Marzani. The couple had been together for 64 years and would have been married 58 years in August.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Stella Panek Bush.  He was the owner and operator of the Ramada Inn and Damon's restaurant in Clarks Summit and owned Mid Valley Candy Co. in Peckville for 24 years.  He was very active in his community and was the former president of the Clarks Summit Borough Council for 13 years, served under Gov. Tom Ridge on the Welfare Board Judicial Committee, was formerly a leader of the 114 th Republican District and was awarded the Lackawanna County Small Businessman of the Year Award. He was a member of Glen Oak Country Club and Our Lady of the Snows Church in Clarks Summit.

Also surviving are a son, Edward Bush Jr., Peckville; three daughters, Susan Faraday and her husband Arthur, Factoryville, Cheryl Bush, Clarks Summit, and Linda Hallen and her husband Matthew, N. Abington Twp.; grandchildren, Elena, Ashley and Sidney; great grandchildren, Lila, Michael Jr., and Vivian; brothers, Bernard and his wife Barbara, Bonita Springs FL, Thomas and his wife Jeanne, Scranton; a sister, Gertrude Mayledich, Litiz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Stanley, Leonard and Hank Bush. Sisters Verna Hnako and Cecelia Avery

Ed was devoted to his family and was so proud of them.  He was a people person and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.  He loved the polkas, animals, golf and politics.  He loved to work and took pride in everything he did.  He was passionate about life, a mentor to many and left those who knew him impacted forever.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Seth D. Wasnock, Assistant Pastor.  All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call on Thursday evening from 4 to 8pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
