Edrene Wright, 71, of Factoryville, died Thursday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Donald V. and Evelyn Gow Wright, she was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail class of 1965, Keystone College, Marywood University and earned her master's degree from the University of Scranton.
She was employed part-time for 22 years at Sears. She taught at Bishop Hannan for eight years, was an adjunct professor at the University of Scranton and taught at Abington Heights School District for 27 years, where she prepared students across District IX to be future leaders through student council involvement.  She was a very active member of the East Benton United Methodist Church. She was an activist for young women in politics, and served as the Republican Party committee woman for Benton Twp.
Surviving are three siblings, Gregory Wright and his wife, Linda; Norman Wright and his wife, Lora, all of Factoryville; and Dee Ann White, Montrose; eight nephews, Greg Jr. and his wife, Joann; Christopher and his wife, Sarah; Matthew; Randy and his wife, Sarah; and Coty, all of Factoryville; Norman Jr. and his wife, Amanda, Florida; Timothy and his wife, Paula, Old Forge; and Travis and his wife, Kristin, Florida; an uncle, Gordon P. Wright and his wife, Ruth, Factoryville; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins, Penny, Lori, Pam, Bonnie, Lynda, Bobby and Dale.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Donita Wright and Colette Wright; and two cousins, Lee and Davey.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at noon from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Bruce E. Gowe, pastor. Interment will take place privately in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. to the time of service at noon, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity, the East Benton United Methodist Church or an education based charity of the donor's choice.
