Edgar Thomas

Edgar N. Thomas, 97, of Nicholson, died Saturday evening at Mercy Hospital. He was married to the former Winola Smith, who died in 1977, and the former Ruth Bradley, who died in 1997.

Born in Blakley, he was the son of the late Frederick and Emma Edgar Thomas. Before retirement in 1976, he was a milkman for Woodlawn Dairy and later Dairylea for 37 years. He was a member of Fleetville Baptist Church, which is now Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Gordon Thomas Sr. and wife, Anna, Scott Twp.; Darwin J. Thomas and wife, Ann, Scott Twp.; and Dale E. Thomas and companion, Robert Santoni, Jermyn; a stepson, Carl Reese, Hershey; two stepdaughters, Dawn Franklin, Upton, Mass.; and Karen Meyer, Bryan, Ohio; four grandchildren, Susan Thomas, Nicholson; John Thomas Sr., Wilmington, Del.; Jennifer Thomas, Pittston; and Gordon Thomas Jr., New Milford; three great-grandchildren John Thomas Jr., Factoryville; Paige Barendse, Macataw, Mich.; and Kelly Thomas, Berwick: nine stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Floyd Thomas; and a sister, Arlene Tompkins.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Grace Baptist Church, Pine Tree Drive, Glenburn, by the Rev. Benjamin Rust, pastor. Interment will be in Worth Cemetery.
