E. Frances Stone, 94, of North Abington Township, died Friday afternoon at home.
Born in North Abington Township, daughter of the late Milo G. and Lou Lamberton Stone, she was a resident of North Abington Township for her entire life. She was the school nurse for the Abington Heights School District for 30 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abington, Waverly, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a graduate of Waverly High School, class of 1930; Powell Business School in 1931 and Hahnemann School of Nursing in 1934. She was known as "Aunt Franny" to her nieces and nephews.
To her nieces and nephews, she embodied kindness, generosity, compassion and strong Christian faith. A birthday, holiday or any special celebration was not complete without her presence. Aunt Franny's life provided her family with a legacy of strong and inspiring values and family devotion.
Surviving are a sister, Lois Sipher, of Ohio; three nephews, Laurence Field Doud III, John Alden Sipher and Thomas Stone Sipher; two nieces, Edna Doud Ferraro and Lou Lamberton Sipher; seven grandnephews, four grandnieces, two great-grandnephews and four great-grandnieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Doud and a niece, Donna Doud Robinson.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Paul J. Fields II and Pastor Jack Race. Interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
