Duane W. LaRue, 85, Ransom Twp., died Wednesday morning at home. His wife is the former Betty Schultheis. The couple had been married for 65 years.
Born in Clarks Summit, he was the son of the late Walter and Gertrude Jacoby LaRue. Prior to retirement he was a machinist at the Swanee Paper Mill for forty years, and was a proud Army veteran. He was a hard worker who enjoyed fishing in the Susquehanna River and going to the races. Duane loved the outdoors and reading a good book, both passions he was proud to have instilled in his children.
Also surviving are his daughters, Shirley Larue and her partner, Dar Howells, and Lori Hueg and her husband Barry; sons, Ricky LaRue and his wife Donna, John LaRue and his companion, Tina, and Damien Larue and his wife Cathy; seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two grandchildren.
His family would like to thank Home Health Hospice, especially, Mary and Rev. Munley for their empathy, care and compassion during this difficult time. Special thanks go to Dar, who cared for Duane along with Shirley, and put many smiles on his face.
