Dorothy D. Zydel, 80, of Deltona, Florida, died Friday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. Her husband of 50 years was the late Leonard J. Zydel, who died in 2002.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Max and Vera McAleer Graf. She was a graduate of Vassar College and received her Master's Degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Prior to her retirement, she was a kindergarten teacher in Hyde Park, New York. She was the past president and an enthusiastic member of the Retired Teachers Association in Deltona, Florida.

Dorothy has always remembered Pauline "Mimi" Saxon, who groomed her into a lady.

Surviving is a son, Leonard S. Zydel, Boca Raton Florida, two daughters, Linda Woodley and her husband Dr. Christopher Woodley, Dalton Pa.; Lisa Nesbitt and husband Allen Nesbitt, Easton, Pa.; four grandchildren Catherine Nesbitt, Briar and Glenn Woodley, and Holly Shane and husband Kevin, several nieces and nephews,; special cousins Bill Graf and Frank Bocian; and special companion L. Charlie Rastelli.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Kit Manzi, Vera Miller, Mildred Burden, and two brothers: Joseph and Bob Graf.

A memorial service will be held February 7 at 10:30 am from Deltona Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, Florida 32763 Interment will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, Ga. 30067.
