Dorothy R. Stearns, Clarks Green, died Sunday afternoon at Abington Manor Nursing Facility. She was the widow of Edgar W. Stearns, who died April 29, 1998.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Earl Ryan and Anna Scholla Ryan, she was a member of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Central High School.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing and camping with her family. She served as a dedicated leader for both Brownies and Girl Scouts, and she will be deeply missed by all those who have known her.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan Botscheller, Clarks Green; a granddaughter, Michelle Huerbin and her husband, Edward, Boalsburg; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brenna Huerbin; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded by her brother, Alfred "Bud" Ryan.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Brent Stouffer, pastor, Clarks Green United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
