Dorothy M. Smith

Dorothy May Smith, 92, LaPlume died Monday evening at her home.  She was the widow of Stevens  J. Smith who died in 1985.

Born in Dalton she was the daughter of the late Earl and Isabel Ryman Hetzel.  She attended Clarks Green Assembly of God and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Juanita Chapter #8.

Dorothy enjoyed to crotchet and attend numerous church activities.

Surviving are two sons Karl Smith, LaPlume and Stevens  J. Smith Jr., Pekin Illinois; grandchildren Arianna Bond and her husband Michael and Stevens J. Smith III and his wife Megan; great grandchildren Sariah, Madison Kyra, Destini Grace, and Stevens J. Smith IV; a sister Bertha Holmes and her husband, John, Dalton; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Walter, and Robert Hetzel; Sisters Anna and Mabel Bagg, and Alice Irving.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., with services by Rev. Dan Miller, pastor of the Clarks Green Assembly of God Church.  Interment will follow in Shoemaker Cemetery, Dalton.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 am until the time of the service.
